If you’re looking for the most comfortable, closest shave of your life, then the Braun Series 9 maybe the answer for you.
Even though I have a beard, I do actually still partake in a regular shaving routine; trimming my beard and lining it in. It can be a multi-product routine - first triming the beard with a mini shaver-over-comb, then lining in with a manual razor. It’s quick, but could be quicker. So I was eager to try out the new Braun Series 9 shaver.
With its four specially designed cutting elements, multiplied by the power of Sonic technology, the Braun Series 9 boasts a shave so fast that your skin doesn’t even have time to get irritated… So I put it to the test.
So here is my beard before my shave, it’s relatively long for me; it starts to get curly and there are darker patches around the sides. My beard annoyingly seems to grow faster in certain areas, so I have to trim methodically until it evens out.
I have to start with saying how simply beautiful the Series 9 in, I’m a total sucker for packaging and design, I think it’s vital in product promotion. I want something that I would want to display in my bathroom, that will add to the decor over wanting to stick it in a cabinet or a box. It’s sleek chrome design, blue -lit battery indicator and black base are uber-modern and it looks masculine with out being bulky (or heavy).
So I started with my usual process, trimming my beard using a comb - if you’ve never done this before you can see how to do it on my How to Grow, Trim and Maintain Your Beard YouTube tutorial - using the handy trimmer on the back of the Series 9.
Using the trimmer was easy, it’s nice and slim and ran over the comb with ease - as you can see it cut really well and in all it only took a minute or two to cover my face.
I then used the trimmer to line in my beard under the chin and on the cheeks. It worked like a dream and is the closest I’ve gotten to a dead-straight line without needing a cut-throat shave.
Finally it was time to use the star of the shaver; a fully flexible SyncroSonicTM shaving head that navigates facial contours with ease. The four cutting elements in the shaving head work seamlessly to capture every hair type.
Two new centre blades – the Direct&Cut Trimmer and HyperLift&Cut Trimmer lift, direct, trim and cut tricky facial hair. The micro-adaptation OptiFoilTM shaving foils Braun’s most advanced yet, manoeuvre nimbly to cut hair as close to the skin as possible over every contour.
Considering it’s lightness, the Braun Series 9 is a beast of a machine, driven by a powerful Linear Drive motor generating 10,000 sonic micro vibrations which delivers 40,000 cross-cutting actions every minute. If that means nothing to you, take it from me, it’s very impressive. There are 400 parts to this shaver - it is truly a science in itself.
I was super impressed with the results in the shave, it was so close to the skin that in many parts, to the touch, it felt as if I had wet shaved with a manual razor. The precision cut made such a strong difference that for the first time, people actually commented on the difference, wondering if I had been for a pro-shave at a barbers. WIN
