One of the things I love about working in the fashion industry as a day job, is that I get introduced to so many brands who I may not otherwise have come across. This season, one of those brands is Canali.
Since its founding in 1934, Canali has championed the values of ‘Made in Italy’ excellence. The bastion of tailor-made Italian luxury, for over 80 years the brand has been using its artisanal know-how to create the most beautifully crafted sartorial wonders, beginning with classic suiting before expanding into casualwear, all the while never sacrificing wearabilty and comfort.
What I love about Canali is how it masterfully blend traditional craftsmanship with a modern aesthetic. The brand has evolved with the times, updating menswear staples for now with fresh silhouettes while using the time-tested techniques of the past. You can see the quality at first sight, and it’s only reinforced when you get your hands on it; the premium fabrics and the precision manufacturing. To look at Canali is to think of the man you aspire to be; a man of confidence, integrity and, naturally, with impeccable style.
‘Rewind’, The Art of Craftsmanship
Rewind is a short film created exclusively for Canali. In keeping with the brand’s ethos of Italian excellence, the film was made by Ivan Cotroneo, who happens to be one of the most acclaimed directors and screenwriters in Italy. The film also features a score written, exclusively of course, by Oscar-winning composer Dario Marianelli.
Rewind is an homage to the working process that goes into making an iconic Canali blazer; it’s a celebration of the work and the people. The short opens with the statement, ‘There are more than 300 steps between you and your favourite blazer.’
Blazers are usually the first port of call for a gent looking to take his first outing with the brand. Beautifully crafted, these blazers boast all of the brand’s hallmarks; modern silhouettes, classics prints, close attention to detail and the finest fabrics - all made in Italy.
